No, sorry. We provide a collection service only and drop off is unavailable.
No, we do not collect TVs.
Yes we collect printers. Please note, we do not collect large, floor-standing printers or plotters. We also do not accept USED toner or cartridges. These can be sent back to your supplier or store.
Laptop batteries are often reused for refurbishing other laptops. If they are unusable, we distribute them to our network of Lithium Ion batteries recyclers who then use them for energy projects like building rechargeable electric scooter batteries, power walls and other energy projects.
We securely erase data on all hard drives received from both businesses and general public. We perform a 3-Pass Wiping procedure using a StarTech SDOCK1EU3P secure wiping machine which overwrites all addressable storage and indexing locations on a drive three times with zeros (0x00), complement (0xFF) and random characters and then verified. Wiping solutions comply with all major security standards including: US Department of Defence 5220.22M (3-pass), US Department of Defence 5220.22M (7-pass), US NIST 800-88, United Kingdom CESG “Certified” erasing standards Baseline and Enhanced.
Please let us know at the time of booking your collection if you require a data wiping receipt proving the successful completion of data erasure. A photo of your hard drive and a wiping receipt will be emailed to you. Each wiping receipt has the following information: Hard drive Model; Serial Number; Capacity; Procedure Type; Time to complete the procedure.
When data wiping is complete, we will re-use your hard drive if it’s in good health or destroy it according to our procedures.
If you wish to have your hard drives physically destroyed, we can offer a shredding service that will shred your hard drives into particles. This service costs $20 per hard drive. A certificate of destruction will be provided.
We try our best to refurbish old mobile phones to bring them back to the market and aid NZ’s restorative circular economy.
If your phone does not turn on, it will be recycled rather than refurbished, which means any personal data will be destroyed in the recycling process.
Recycling your mobile phone will reduce the need for more parts to be manufactured; it will keep hazardous materials out of our landfill; it will raise money for Sustainable Coastlines! Phones that we can’t refurbish get sent to Re:Mobile who refurbish them or send overseas for re-using parts and all the proceeds go towards Sustainable Coastlines, an award-winning charity which is helping to protect New Zealand’s coastlines and waterways. The money donated by RE:MOBILE has seen over 10,000 trees and plants planted alongside waterways around Aotearoa.
Before you recycle your mobile phone/tablet/iPod through us, please complete these steps:
- If it still turns on, disconnect it from any cloud services and complete a full factory reset to erase all your data (it’s a very important step, especially for Apple devices)
- Remove your sim card and keep it.
- Leave the battery in the phone.
- Switch the phone off.
